Final Metamusic Handover And Work Stuff

Well its the end of the line for the Metamusic project at the IDC. We've had our final meeting and the handoff to Abaltat is just about done, the comments back from IBC were absolutely brillant and the UL prototype has knocked the socks off a load of the punters attending IBC. Our (the IDC's) prototype picked up a IABM Peter Wayne Award Finalist (2006) and a Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit IBC award (2006).

Back to research, teaching and that PhD of mine ! It also looks like the COST SID (Sonic Interaction Design) proposal is going very well with Davide Rocchesso getting ready to give a presentation in Brussels so its past the first stage and if it passes the presentation and questions, it should get accepted and I'll be down as one of the Irish delegates for the action.

Metamusic now Abaltat Muse

As the end of the month and project approaches, we're about ready to handover the Metamusic application to the new development team at Abaltat, our (the IDC's) prototype went to the IBC conference and got some mixed coverage (see here, here and here). Justin said they had gotten some award and were runner-up in another but I can't find anything. Looks like the results are good so both Enterprise Ireland and Metamusic / Abaltat will be very happy. Roll on some PhD work and another project.

Liam's off to New Zealand

Liam's off to New Zealand for a year so we started a bit of a session last night with catching the Munster versus Borders match 9-8 but wasn't great game but still Munster playing in Thomond is always a good occasion. This was followed by a couple of really good pints for Guinness at the Curragower pub and then on to the Icon for a bit of fun, dancing and somemore pints.

I guess its just that time of year as Steve is having his going away dinner tomorrow so its all change here in Limerick.
